The Sacrifices of the Tabernacle
All Levitical Sacrifices were substitutional, because they
were provisional. They were provisional waiting upon the One
true sacrifice to come in the flesh and offer up Himself, once for all time.
They were like a promise to pay signature, holding of judgement until the
total debt was paid in full.
Romans 3:25
Hebrews
10:11-12
The Sacrifice for the nation was the provisional payment for
sin once a year.
There were a number of different offerings.
All sacrificial offerings point back to an offering, which occurred in eternity
past. The offering could be said to be memorial, God knew mankind would
sin and fail Him. But God in His providential mercy made provision for this
failure. God is the all-knowing one (omniscient) and all caring one.
Nothing takes Him by surprise, and nothing is out of the scope of His power
to act and make provision for all. In the following scripture we see God's
Grace in action by providing the sacrifice for all of mankind, without exception.
Revelation 13:8 "The
lamb that was slain from the creation\foundation of the world"
