The Sacrifices of the Tabernacle

All Levitical Sacrifices were substitutional, because they were provisional. They were provisional waiting upon the One true sacrifice to come in the flesh and offer up Himself, once for all time. They were like a promise to pay signature, holding of judgement until the total debt was paid in full.

Romans 3:25

“God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished. He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.”

Hebrews 10:11-12

Day after day every high priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God…By one sacrifice He has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”

The Sacrifice for the nation was the provisional payment for sin once a year.

There were a number of different offerings. Sweet savour Offerings

All the offerings were provisional, memorial and ceremonial. The offerings were a promise of a future work, which will take place at a later time, and a judgement, which was promised to the serpent and also to Adam and Eve, when they sinned. Genesis 3:14-19

All sacrificial offerings point back to an offering, which occurred in eternity past. The offering could be said to be memorial, God knew mankind would sin and fail Him. But God in His providential mercy made provision for this failure. God is the all-knowing one (omniscient) and all caring one.

Nothing takes Him by surprise, and nothing is out of the scope of His power to act and make provision for all. In the following scripture we see God's Grace in action by providing the sacrifice for all of mankind, without exception.
Revelation 13:8 "The lamb that was slain from the creation\foundation of the world"
