The Posts and Pillars of the Tabernacle

The Entrance Gate to the Outer Court

The entrance gate had four bronze posts, founded upon four bronze sockets, capped with four silver capitals and joined together with silver rods and multi coloured finely twisted curtains hanging on hooks.

The four bronze posts represent the four directions of the compass, four seasons of the year and the four divisions of the day.  All these indicated God’s availability, anytime, any season and from any direction of the compass.

Isaiah 45:22

“Come to me and be saved, all you end’s of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other”

Psalm 100:4

“Enter is gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise, give thanks to Him and praise His Name”

This Curtain was easy to push through and enter, showing the ease with which people can come to God, and also be restored to fellowship.

The Entrance Gate to the Holy Place

This gate had five golden pillars, founded upon five bronze sockets, with five golden capitals and golden hooks, to hang the multi coloured curtain from. On the inside of the curtain, Cherubim were embroidered.

On both sides of the curtain, Cherubim were embroidered. The angelic beings were watching what was taking place in the Holy of Holies.

The four Golden posts represent the four directions of the compass, four seasons of the year and the four divisions of the day. All these indicating that only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ can mankind anywhere gain access to God.

All gates or curtains were made of finely twisted linen of red, white, blue, and purple, all were the colours of the Lord Jesus Christ

The message of the three entrance curtains

Isaiah 55:6

“Seek the lord, while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake His way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let Him return\turn to the Lord and He will have mercy on Him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.”

John 10:9

“I am the Gate; whoever enters through me shall be saved”

There were three entrance curtains, all indicating the number three and indicating that the work of Salvation is a trinity based work, a team effort; while at the same time displaying that there is One Absolute Way, through Jesus Christ.

In Herod’s Temple the veil was 60 x 30 ft x 5 in

It took 30 priests to hang the curtain

One is an absolute number

There is one Tabernacle

There is one barrier between God and man

There is one solution for sins

There is one sacrifice

There is one fire

There is one Entrance Gate

There is one price to pay for sins

There is one person who paid that price

There is one High Priest

There is one way of cleansing

There is one church, one body

There is one righteousness

There is one final judgement

There is one sin, which casts a person into hell

There is one way to heaven

The veil to the Holy of Holies speaks of the barrier between God and man. The barrier speaks of His body.

Hebrews 10:20

“We have a new and living way, opened to us through the curtain, that is, His body”
