The following are scriptures prophesying the work of God in the coming of Christ and the Spirits ministry in His life, for the Glory of God.

Prophecy: Isaiah 11:1-2

“A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of fear (respectful awe) of the Lord and He will delight in the reverential awe of the Lord”

Prophecy fulfilled: Matthew 1:18

“Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit”

The Key Word is Light, as light illumines the way of service.

The Key Word is Power, as this provides the ability for service.

The High Priest would have to keep the lamps trimmed and burning bright. The best Olive Oil was used, which was beaten to make the light burn bright. Their service in the Tabernacle was performed with light from the candlestick. The lamps were set on the candlestick so that they would shed light forward to the curtain to the Holy of Holies. The light was never to go out.

Exodus 27:20   “The lamps may be kept burning”

Leviticus 24:2   “The lamps shall burn continually

Jesus understood above all the need for prayer before service to God.

Jesus Christ customarily went to the Mount of Olives to pray and have fellowship with His Father. He often went to the mountainous regions to pray in seclusion.

Mark 6:46

In the Old Testament time very few believers had the Holy Spirit helping them in their lives. When the Holy Spirit empowered believers in the times of Israel, it was to perform a specific task.

People like Moses, Joshua, Samson, Saul, David, Bezalel and Oholiab, Isaiah, Jeremiah and many of the Prophets, the writers of scripture. The empowering of Holy Spirit Was a rare thing and that power could be lost through sin and rebellion.

1 Samuel 16:14

“Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul”

After to David’s adultery and murder, David said.

Psalm 51:11

“Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.”

Matthew 4:1

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil”

Jesus Christ was impeccable as He was always empowered by the Holy Spirit from birth to death. As God, He was not able to sin, as a man empowered by the Holy Spirit, He was able not to sin.

The Holy Spirit always led Jesus Christ. From birth He simply walked with God and kept on walking in obedience to His Fathers commands, and resided under His Fathers love.

He grew up obedient to His parents. He entered into ministry proclaiming the kingdom of God was at hand. He was rejected by most of the leaders of Israel, and was slandered and accused of many things incorrectly, even of being demon possessed. It was here the Kingdom was temporarily postponed and Jesus then promised to build His Church.

He demonstrated that He was their king, by the many miracles that He did, in the power of the Holy Spirit. He never acted on His own. He was betrayed by one of His own, arrested, hit, spat on, falsely accused, mocked, ridiculed, and flogged.

The soldiers even ridiculed and beat Him and placed a cruel crown of thorns upon His head. Though He was innocent He was condemned to death by being nailed to a cross. He didn’t cry out even once. Hanging there He said “Father Forgive Them”.

For six hours He hung there and then darkness came over the area and God began to pour our sins onto Him, and He (Father) judged Him (Son) for our sins. It was them He cried and cried.

After nine hours on the cross He finished His work, which God gave Him to do, exhaled and died. All through His life He was sustained and helped by the Holy Spirit. Three days later His Father and the Holy Spirit raised him back to life.

John 15:9-10

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you! Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed My Fathers commands and remain in His Love”
